COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) held its annual postseason awards banquet Tuesday night, as three members of the No. 28 Georgia College baseball team (29-19) earned slots on the All-PBC Teams.

Third baseman Travis Echols (Suwanee, Ga.) and designated hitter Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) earned first team selections, while reliever Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.) was on the second team. All three student-athletes make their first career appearance on an All-PBC Team.

Maas leads GC in home runs (8) and RBI (55) and is second on the team in batting average at .340. The junior is third in the PBC with his RBI, adding sixth in round trippers. Maas is the first designated hitter to make all-conference since Richard Pirkle in 2008, and is the third overall.

Echols is hitting .320 with six home runs and 46 RBI. The senior’s RBI total ranks him 10th in the PBC. Echols gives GC five third baseman with All-PBC honors all-time, the first since Jose Leger in 2003.

LaMothe leads GC with seven saves, and has gone 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA over 21 appearances. The junior righty is GC’s fifth relief pitcher to be named All-PBC. The last one, Martin Dewald in 2009, went on to All-America honors as well.

The three gives GC 61 All-PBC awards all-time. The Bobcats have won 20 in head coach Tom Carty’s five seasons.

The Bobcats begin their quest for the school’s first PBC Tournament title Wednesday, May 9 at 4 p.m., traveling to Columbus, Ga. to take on Lander University.
