MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Senior third baseman Travis Echols (Suwanee, Ga.) of the Georgia College baseball team (27-18, 17-9 PBC) was named the most recent Bobcat Athlete of the Week, as announced Wednesday. This marks the first such honor for Echols and the fourth for the Bobcat baseball team this season.
Echols powered the Bobcat offense for a four-game week, including a series victory over Columbus State University, hitting 6-for-16 (.375) with seven RBI and five runs scored. The senior’s biggest game came in the 18-2 drubbing of CSU Saturday, as he had four RBI in a single inning, ripping a double and a home run as part of the 13-run third. Echols finished that game 2-for-2 with five RBI, a home run and three runs scored. In the doubleheader Saturday with the Cougars, he went a combined 4-for-6 with four runs and seven RBI. He slugged .688 for the week.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m., hosting No. 5 Armstrong.
