MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Former Georgia College pitcher Martin Dewald (Manheim, Germany), recently signed a contract to play with the River City Rascals of the Independent Frontier League.
Dewald helped lead the Bobcats to the Division II College World Series last year, finishing 12-3 with a 3.25 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 121.1 innings pitched.
In a pair of amazing performances, Dewald threw complete-game shutouts in his last two collegiate appearances. He first blanked Francis Marion University in the Southeast Regional Championship and then topped the performance on a bigger stage, shutting out eventual National Champion Southern Indiana in the World Series.
Dewald joins a River City team that won the 2010 Frontier League championship, finishing with a 57-38 record overall.
The Rascals will look to repeat as they begin their season May 10 at home against the Normal CornBelters.
