MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior second baseman Luke McKay (Augusta, Kan.) of the Georgia College baseball team (35-17) was named the final Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the 2010-11 season for his efforts during the week ending May 15. This marks the first such honor for McKay and the fourth for the Bobcat Baseball team this season.
McKay had a solid day at the plate in the loss to East No. 1-seed Francis Marion University in day two of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament May 9, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI. McKay tagged two extra-base hits, including a solo home run in the seventh.
The Bobcat baseball team went 35-17 in 2011, a season that saw them hold down the No. 1 spot in the country for two weeks. The Bobcats finished second in the PBC West, and put four on the All-PBC Teams, including Co-Player of the Year Shawn Ward (Evans, Ga.).
