PEMBROKE, N.C. – The offense never got started for No. 9 Georgia College baseball (24-14, 9-9 PBC) as the Bobcats lost at No. 12 UNC Pembroke (32-7, 13-7 PBC) 10-0 Sunday.
GC tallied just four hits as the Braves swept the season series from GC 3-0. The Bobcats hadn't been swept in a three-game conference set since the 2008 season at North Georgia.
Brian Willis (5-2) picked up the win for UNCP, going seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts. GC starter Taylor Hart (Colbert, Ga.) took the loss (1-1) in 2 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and fanning five.
Catcher Richard Pirkle (Norcross, Ga.) was 2-for-4, his second-straight two-hit game.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, April 12 at 6 p.m., traveling to Newberry College (20-22) for a non-conference game. The Wolves are in the midst of a four-game win streak, including a victory over the Bobcats Wednesday.
