GC Athletics Puts 90 on PBC Presidential Honor Roll
MARTINEZ, Ga. - The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its Presidential Honor Roll recipients, with 90 Georgia College student-athletes making the list. The program honors all student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2010-11 academic year.

Former Bobcat Pirkle Chosen in MLB Draft
SEACAUCUS, N.J. – The “Nightmare from Norcross” will now be giving professional pitchers sleepless nights. Senior catcher Richard Pirkle (Norcross, Ga.) of the Georgia College baseball team was chosen by the Colorado Rockies Wednesday in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Pirkle was chosen in the 35th round with pick 1,068.

DALLAS – Junior shortstop Tanner Funk (Kearney, Mo.) of the Georgia College baseball team was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II All-America teams, the organization announced recently. Funk picked up a spot on the first team, the only Peach Belt Conference (PBC) player to do so.

Antonini Earns Win After Being Called to Triple-A
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Former Georgia College & State University standout pitcher Michael Antonini (2007) was recently promoted to the Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets organization. Antonini was drafted by the Mets in 2007, and has pitched well with a career 3.82 ERA and 359 strikeouts in 459 innings of work. He has 79 starts in 90 games.
