MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University baseball program and head coach Tom Carty announce the signing of three incoming freshmen for the 2011 season.
Matt Robinson (Hull, Ga.), Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Brad Stone (Flowery Branch, Ga.) all join the Bobcats for 2011. Robinson and Bick are both infielders while Stone will be an outfielder.
"Matt, Daniel and Brad are part of a very important freshman recruiting class for our program," said Carty. "We will lose 14 seniors off this team with eight of them position players. All three are very athletic young players who have speed and an aggressive style of play, which fits our offensive philosophy. We are excited about Matt and Daniel coming into our program as freshman infielders who will compete right away for vacancies left in our infield due to graduating five seniors. Coach Zeke Mitchem, myself and the rest of the staff felt it was important to get some quality high school players in our program for 2011 to join our three freshmen already on the 2010 roster. Robinson, Bick and Stone definitely fit both our short and long term plans for Bobcat baseball."
Robinson hit .317 and had 19 stolen bases last season with Madison County High School. Stone is the only freshman outfielder in the 2011 recruiting class. Stone had .624 OBP, hit .395 and had 16 steals for Flowery Branch. Robinson and Stone were members of the Georgia Dugout Top 100 while Bick scored an eight out of 10 rating on Perfect Game Crosscheckers' rankings.
The Bobcats hit the field Friday, Feb. 5 with a doubleheader against University of Tampa at John Kurtz Field.
