INDIANAPOLIS – In the third NCAA Southeast Region Poll of the season (released April 28), the No. 8 Georgia College & State University baseball team (33-13, 17-4 PBC) was ranked at the third spot. The poll is used to determine the three at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, as well as the host of the region tourney.
The ‘Cats found themselves behind Francis Marion University and Mount Olive College, who were at the top-two slots for the third straight week. The fourth, seventh and eighth positions belonged to Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools, Columbus State University, North Georgia and UNC Pembroke, respectively. South Atlantic Conference member Catawba College was at the fifth spot while Conference Carolinas member Erskine College was ranked sixth.
Georgia College went undefeated last week, winning at home against No. 14 Valdosta State University 8-4 and taking all three games on the road against North Greenville University.
The Bobcats head to Savannah, Ga. to play Armstrong Atlantic State University Friday, April 30 at 3 p.m. The regular season finale will be a doubleheader Saturday, May 1 against the Pirates, starting at 1 p.m.
