Bobcat Baseball Ranked Third in First Region Poll of Season

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 12 Georgia College & State University baseball squad (29-12, 17-4 PBC) was ranked third in the first NCAA Southeast Region Poll of the season released April 14. The poll is used to determine the five at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, as well as the host of the region tourney.
The Bobcats fall in behind Francis Marion University and Mount Olive College, respectively in the poll. Columbus State University is fourth, Catawba College is fifth and Erskine College is sixth. The seventh and eighth spots belong to the Peach Belt’s North Georgia and UNC Pembroke.
GCSU went 3-1 this past week, including a three-game sweep of conference opponent University of Montevallo. The ‘Cats will await the next region poll which will be released later this week.
Georgia College will host No. 17 Valdosta State University Wednesday, April 21 at 4 p.m. at John Kurtz Field.
