#12 Georgia College Falls Short at #17 Blazers 8-7

– For the second game in a row, the No. 12
Georgia College & State University baseball team (26-12) went
extra innings, but this time on the losing end falling 8-7 at No.
17 Valdosta State University (32-12) in 13 innings Wednesday.
Rightfielder Shawn Ward
had a team-best four hits
for the Bobcats. Catcher BentonYaun
was second on team with
three hits while second baseman Jason
and designated hitter
finished with two hits a
piece. The “Nightmare from Norcross” led the team
scoring two runs.
After committing three errors in the first inning and allowing
a run, the Bobcats battled back to score a run of themselves when
Yaun tripled down the right field line to score Ward. The
‘Cats then were able to take the 3-1 lead in the fourth when
Yaun scored off a Pirkle double. Pirkle then came across the plate
on a Veyna single over the third baseman’s head.
The Bobcats were up 6-2 going into the ninth when the
Blazers’ Jordan Yost hit a grand slam to send the game into

Georgia College travels to University of Montevallo for a
Peach Belt Conference (PBC) showdown Saturday, April 17 in a
doubleheader with the first game starting at 2 p.m.
