SAVANNAH, Ga. – After sweeping then No. 5 Columbus State University, the Georgia College & State University baseball team (14-8, 7-2 PBC) went from unranked to No. 19 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Coaches’ Poll released Monday.
The Bobcats ended Columbus State’s 21-game win streak defeating the Cougars 9-7 Friday, March 19. Georgia College completed the three-game sweep, taking both games in the doubleheader by the scores of 12-7 and 4-3.
The ‘Cats are one of six Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams ranked in the nation’s top-30, led by No. 7 USC Aiken. No. 9 CSU rounds out the PBC teams in the top-10. No. 11 Francis Marion University, No. 16 North Georgia and No. 17 UNC Pembroke all come in front of GCSU.
Georgia College travels to Pfeiffer University Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m. and finishes the two-game set Wednesday, March 24 at 3 p.m.
