MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Going 3-1 this week, the Georgia College & State University baseball team (26-11, 14-4 PBC) kept its stranglehold on the top spot in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and continued to appear in the nation’s top 20 in three different polls. The Bobcats are No. 11 in the Ping! Baseball Top-30, No. 12 in Collegiate Baseball Magazine’s Top-30 and No. 17 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top-25.
The Bobcats jump seven spots to No. 11 in the Ping! poll. They are third among the five teams listed from the PBC. No. 6 Francis Marion University and No. 8 Columbus State University appear before Georgia College, with No. 16 USC Aiken and No. 30 North Georgia also on the list.
In the Collegiate Baseball Magazine list, the ‘Cats stayed put at No. 12, again third among the PBC schools. Columbus State is one spot better than No. 8 Francis Marion in this tome, with USC Aiken at No. 16, North Georgia No. 19 and UNC Pembroke No. 21.
The Bobcats slipped two slots in the NCBWA rankings, coming in at No. 17. FMU is tops here as well among the PBC schools, coming in at No. 11. The Bobcats are second with Columbus State close behind in No. 19.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 14 at 4 p.m., traveling to No. 17 Valdosta State University.
