MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – On the strength of a six-win week including a three-game sweep of a nationally-ranked conference opponent, the Georgia College & State University baseball team (23-10, 12-3 PBC) has found itself firmly in the top-20 of three national polls. GCSU owns the No. 12 spot in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine Top-30, and the No. 15 spot in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top-25 as well as the No. 18 spot in the Ping!Baseball Top-30.
The Bobcats move up four slots in Collegiate Baseball Magazine, and are now the third listed school in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). Columbus State University is listed at No. 6, and Francis Marion University owns the No. 9 spot. The PBC schools behind Georgia College are No. 18 USC Aiken and No. 20 UNC Pembroke. The ‘Cats have appeared in three-straight polls and six overall this season.
Head coach Tom Carty’s ‘Cats take the No. 15 slot in the NCBWA Poll after just receiving votes last week. The Bobcats are second of the three PBC teams listed, sandwiched between No. 14 Francis Marion and No. 16 Columbus State.
Georgia College was listed No. 26 in the Ping! poll a week ago, this marking the second-straight week the Bobcats have been listed in the top-30, the third overall. The Bobcats are fourth among the five PBC schools on this list, behind No. 6 Francis Marion and No. 8 Columbus State as well as No. 12 USC Aiken. Below the Bobcats are the Saints of No. 29 North Georgia.
The Bobcats are back in action today, April 6 at 5 p.m., traveling to Anderson University.
