Dewald, Robinson Land Slots on Daktronics All-Region Squad

AUGUSTA, Ga. - As one of the top relievers in the nation, Martin Dewald (Mannheim, Germany) of the No. 20 Georgia College & State University baseball team (37-18) earned Daktronics First Team All-Southeast Region honors, the organization announced. Bobcat second baseman Brooks Robinson (Evans, Ga.) earned a slot on the second team.

Dewald is 5-2 this season with a 2.50 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 39 2/3 innings. The junior righty has 14 saves, one shy of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) record and also one behind the NCAA Division II leader this season.

Robinson is hitting .328 with six home runs, 47 RBI and 32 runs while holding down second base for the Bobcats. He made the switch from the everyday starter at third a season ago, to help Georgia College shore up defense up the middle. Each of Robinson's six home runs have come in Bobcat victories.

The honors are voted on and maintained by the region's sports information directors. In the three years of the program, Georgia College has had eight players on the all-region squad. Dewald will now move on to the All-America ballot, which will be released in the coming weeks.

The Bobcats are back in action today, May 15 at 3 p.m. taking on Belmont Abbey College in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament. Catch the action on News Sports AM 1450 and on the internet at www.country102fm.com .
