AUGUSTA, Ga. - Four members of the No. 17 Georgia College & State University baseball team (37-16) were placed on the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams, the conference office announced today (May 8). Junior closer Martin Dewald (Mannheim, Germany) led the way with a first-team nod at relief pitcher.
Dewald set the school record in saves this season, posting 14 to go with a 5-2 record and a 1.91 ERA. The 14 saves is one shy of the PBC record, and also one away from the Division II lead this season.
Robinson compiled a .326 average with six home runs and 46 RBI, scoring 32 times and stealing 15 bases. Snell, a Preseason All-PBC pick, hit .309 with 31 runs, 23 RBI and 17 swipes. Harrell paced the team in a few categories, including average at .346 and stolen bases at 28. He also knocked seven home runs, driving in 40 and scoring 48. Harrell's stolen bases number ties for second in the PBC this season.
The four members well eclipses GCSU's 2008 performance of just one. The Bobcats have now had 48 players earn All-PBC honors in school history.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m. travelling to Aiken, S.C. for the PBC Tournament. Georgia College opens up with UNC Pembroke Saturday.
