Bobcat Baseball Ranked Second in Region
INDIANAPOLIS - The second edition of the NCAA Division II Baseball Southeast Region Rankings have been released, with Georgia College & State University (32-13, 15-9 PBC) taking the second slot.
The Bobcats drop one spot after owning the top position in the first NCAA ranks, with USC Aiken now owning the coveted position. The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) claims the top three slots, with Francis Marion University coming in third.
The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) has the No. 4 team in Tusculum College, with Conference Carolinas leader Belmont Abbey College owning fifth. No. 6 Catawba College comes from the SAC, while the PBC's UNC Pembroke stands seventh. Erskine College from the Conference Carolinas rounds out the eight-team list.
There are six available spots for the NCAA Regional, with three going to the conference tournament winners, and three left over as at-large selections, using this poll as the guide to pick the at-large spots.
The Bobcats are victorious in seven of their last 10, and the 32 wins is already just one shy of last year's total.
Georgia College will to action at home Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. to face the University of Montevallo, the first of a three-game set.
