MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University cross country program and head coach Joe Samprone released its 2009 schedule today (July 20), featuring six regular-season races including one home meet.
The Bobcat harriers start off their season at home, Friday, Aug. 28 at the West Campus Cross Country Course for the Bobcat Invitational. After a week hiatus, they're back in action at Berry College for the Berry Invitational Saturday, Sept. 12.
The first of two lengthy trips comes the next week, as the Bobcats head to San Antonio, Texas for the Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic, hosted by the University of Texas-San Antonio. The next week features another meet close to home, as the Bobcats will do battle in the Mercer RunFit Invitational in Macon, Ga. Saturday, Sept. 26.
After competing in the Southern Challenge in Marietta, Ga. Saturday, Oct. 10, Georgia College will make its longest trip of the season. St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt. will host the SMC Invitational Friday, Oct. 16 to round out the regular season.
UNC Pembroke will host this year's Peach Belt Conference Championship Saturday, Oct. 24. For the second straight season, Wingate University will host the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday, Nov. 7. The Division II National Championship is set for Saturday, Nov. 21 at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind.
