MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University athletic department would like to give you the shirt off their backs, or at least take yours. At Midnight Madness Wednesday, Oct. 14, Bobcat Athletics will hold its first "GameDay Green Upgrade" event at the Centennial Center.
With doors opening at 10 p.m., turn in any shirt featuring a different college or university, and you could get a free Bobcat "GameDay Green" T-Shirt. Echoing the famous "cash for clunkers" program, the trade in shirt could be in any condition.
"We'd like Milledgeville to be known as Bobcat country," said sports information director Al Weston explaining the rationale behind the program. "It can be the Georgia Tech shirt you do yard work in with the yellow pit stains, or it can be the Georgia shirt that your pet bulldog got a hold of and tore to shreds. We'll take any shirt, no questions asked."
The free trade-out is open to the first 30 people who bring in shirts from other colleges and universities. Otherwise, the attractive "GameDay Green" shirts can be purchased for just $5 at all athletic events.
Midnight Madness is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 10 p.m.
