Bobcat Athletics Second in Fall Commissioner’s Cup Standings

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia College & State University's defense of the 2008-09 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Commissioner's Cup is off to a great start, as the Bobcats stand second after the tabulation of the fall season sports.

The Bobcats got 22 of a possible 30 points in their three fall sports, good for a .733 rating, behind only Columbus State University who won titles in all three of its sports, a 1.000 rating.

The fall programs were led by women's cross country, taking runner-up honors at the PBC Championships in Pembroke, N.C. The women's soccer team picked up a third-place finish this season, getting 19 points off a 5-1-4 conference mark. Men's cross country took fifth at the PBC Championships this fall to round out the strong finishes for Georgia College.

The Georgia College Athletic Department continues to be on the rise, winning the first PBC Commissioner's Cup in school history last season after previously not finishing any higher than fifth. Nine of the 10 athletic programs at Georgia College advanced to the NCAA postseason, and the Bobcats had the highest percentage of student-athletes on the PBC Academic Scholar list.

Lander University is third at .696, Augusta State University fouth at .684 and Armstrong Atlantic State University stands fourth at .667.
