NEW ORLEANS - The Georgia College & State University's men's and women's cross country teams held their ground in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America (USTFCCCA) week five Southeast Region rankings released yesterday, Oct. 13. The men remained in the No. 9 slot, while the women rested in the No. 10 position.

The Bobcat women defended their ranking position Saturday (Oct. 10) in the Southern Challenge hosted by Chattahoochee Tech. Georgia College took six of the top eight individual finishes and claimed the top-two team finishes. Splitting into GCSU A and GCSU B for the event, GCSU A had just 20 points while GCSU B collected 75, edging Clark Atlanta University by two. The 20 points by GCSU A is the third-lowest point total in Bobcat history.

For the men, Georgia College held the No. 9 spot after earning the runner-up slot at Southern Challenge Saturday. The Bobcats took the 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 17th slots, which was good enough for second place with 60 points.

Both teams are back in action Friday, Oct. 16 at the SMC Invitational, hosted by St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt.
