Bobcat Classic Fundraising Golf Outing Set for September
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Annual Bobcat Classic Tournament, one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for Georgia College & State University athletics, has been set for Monday, Sept. 14 at Harbor Club on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.
As always, there will be tee times offered for the morning and afternoon. While the chance to hit the links at Harbor Club is often incentive enough to sign up for the annual tournament, the door prizes at the Bobcat Classic are often second to none.
"This tournament is always a special event," said associate athletic director Jimmy Wilson. "The Bobcat Classic Tournament is crucial to the success of GCSU Athletics in that every dollar goes toward scholarships or building projects for Bobcat athletics, helping to improve the experience for our student-athletes. It's because of fundraisers like these that we can have continued success."
The cost is $700 for a foursome, with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Bobcat athletics had a banner year in 2008-09, bringing home its first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Commissioner's Cup, the all-sports trophy for the conference. GCSU men's tennis brought home their first PBC Championship, as the Bobcat netters and eight of the other programs at Georgia College competed in the NCAA post-season last year. One of the best examples of a balance between academics and athletics in all of Division II, the Bobcats also saw 30 of their student-athletes named to the PBC Academic All-Conference teams in 2008-09.
