MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College Cross Country and head coach Steven Cary released the 2017 schedule Wednesday, highlighted by one home race in October.
The seven-race list starts with the Border Clash XC Meet at coach Cary’s alma mater, Valdosta State University Sept. 1. The Bobcats will also split squads Sept. 9, with runners going to both the Joe I. Vigil Open at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado and the Jaguar Invitational at Augusta University.
After a trip to North Carolina ends the September slate, the Bobcats kick off October with the lone home race for the season, the 2017 Bobcat Invitational, Friday, Oct. 6. Next comes the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship at Columbus State University Oct. 21 and then the NCAA Southeast Regional at Wingate University Nov. 4.
The Bobcat women took sixth in the PBC Championship a year ago, combined with an 11th place finish at regionals. The Bobcat men nabbed a seventh-place slot in the conference meet, then took 12th at the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Bobcat women return two-time All-Region runner Katherine Yost (Norcross), who became the first Bobcat runner to complete at Nationals just last season. The men will return rising junior Collin Silliman (Douglasville) who led the Bobcats in all six races he ran last season.
