AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released the winners of the Spring Team Sportsmanship Awards, with Georgia College Men’s and Women’s Tennis and head coach Steve Barsby earning honors.
The Bobcat Men’s Tennis team were solo winners of the male honor, while the GC Women’s Tennis squad shared the award with Francis Marion University. It marks the second-straight season that both Bobcat Tennis teams have earned the honor.
The program presents an award following each championship season to the team in that sport that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. The team award is selected by other teams who compete in that sport. Points are awarded based on how each team finished in the voting and in June, the institution with the highest totals will receive the 'PBC Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.'
The league's Senior Woman Administrators will oversee the program.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
