Bobcat Madness Highlighted by Halfcourt Shot for Free Tuition

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Joined with the Thunder Crew student spirit group and the Student Government Association, Georgia College basketball will kick off the 2013-14 season in style with Bobcat Madness Thursday, Oct. 17, the doors opening at 9 p.m.

The pre-event tailgate with live music from student band “The White Kids” begins at 7:30 p.m., with free hamburgers supplied by BUBBA Burger, while supplies last.

When the doors open at 9 p.m., the first 500 fans receive event T-shirts. Once inside, the program is jam-packed with a dunk contest, scrimmages, games for fans, and performances by the cheerleaders, Sassy Cats dance team and Pep Band. Fans can also look for giveaways throughout the evening and one lucky member of Bobcat Nation will take a half-court shot for a semester of free tuition to cap the festivities.

Serving as the annual kickoff to the Bobcat basketball season, Georgia College holds the annual high-energy Madness event to introduce Bobcat Nation to the basketball teams, having a lot of fun in the process.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
