MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Two Georgia College sports squads will host their Annual Alumni events Saturday, Oct. 20 on GC’s West Campus.
Softball is scheduled for 11 a.m. The game will pit current Bobcat softball players against alumni athletes in a friendly showdown at the Peeler Complex at West Campus; a cookout will follow the game.
For more information or to RSVP to this event as an alumnus please contact assistant coach Brittany Bennett at 478-445-5279 or email@example.com .
Along with connecting old friends and showcasing the new team, Bobcat Baseball plans to raise funds for Alum Chris Grady (1995-96). Grady and his wife Valerie have two young boys, Drew (8) and Trent (5) battling a debilitating illness after being diagnosed with Batten Disease.
Batting practice will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the Home Run Derby set to start at 12:10 p.m. The Alumni Game is set to start at 1 p.m. After the six-inning alumni-only contest, the current Bobcats will do a quick three-inning exhibition to showcase the new squad.
The Bobcats will also pass the hat to raise money for the Grady family fund, “Grady’s All-Stars”. Batten Disease depletes children of their physical abilities as well as their vision and causes heartbreaking debilitation. Life expectancy can be anywhere from 8-12 years of age. The Gradys continue to battle to get the kids in on various studies and the cost of these privately-funded efforts, combined with piling medical care bills has stretched the family thin.
Any baseball Alumni who will attend can contact head baseball coach Tom Carty at firstname.lastname@example.org or his office phone at (478) 445-1692.
The Deep Roots Festival and Family Day on the GC campus will take place on the same day.
