MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College tennis program and head coach Steve Barsby are proud to announce the addition of graduate assistant coach Carlos Marques.
A native of Uba, Brazil, Marques played for Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Lander University reaching as high as No. 19 in the country in singles. He was named to the ITA All-Academic Team in 2009 and 2010 and earned a slot on the 2010 PBC All-Academic Team.
“Carlos was a very solid player for four years at Lander and comes from a great program under Brett Simpson,” said Barsby. He is a guy who loves the game and has improved tremendously over his collegiate career. His passion for the day-to-day preparation and competition that goes in to be a successful player will be his strongest asset as a coach.”
Marques teamed with Paul-Henri Arrigoni for victories over the No. 7-ranked and No. 12-ranked squads. He earned an undergraduate degree in business administration from Lander, compiling a 3.71 GPA. He will pursue a master’s in business administration at GC.
The Bobcat men’s tennis team kicks off the fall season Friday, Sept. 16 by hosting the Annual Georgia College Men’s Fall Championships.
