Georgia College Athletics to Host Girls and Women in Sports Day

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – With an interest in keeping local youth active and enjoying sports, the Georgia College Department of Athletics will hold a free “Girls and Women in Sports Day” activity Saturday, Dec. 3 in the Centennial Center.

Free and open to all girls from kindergarten through fifth grade, the event will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring sessions hosted by student-athletes and coaches from all five women’s sports teams at Georgia College.

“We’re excited about this youth event,” said GC assistant athletic director and senior women’s administrator Ginger Chaffinch. “We’re hoping the interaction with our student-athletes will remind local girls how much fun and how rewarding sport and being active can be. We hope our student-athletes can serve as role models for these youngsters as prime examples of the heights you can achieve through sports.”

The event will have five 20 minute breakout sessions, featuring activities related to running, soccer, basketball, softball and tennis. All girls that attend the clinic will also receive a pizza party and free admission to Saturday’s women’s basketball game against Allen University at 5:30 p.m.
