MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College cross country program and head coach Joe Samprone released the 2011 schedule Thursday, featuring four regular-season meets.
The season starts at home, as the Bobcats will host the third-annual Bobcat Invitational Friday, Sept. 2.
The following week, GC takes flight to Irvine, Calif. for a meet at Division I UC Irvine. Sept. 17 the Bobcats do battle at Division I Mercer University, and travel to Augusta, Ga. for the regular-season capper at Augusta State University Oct. 8.
The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships are hosted by USC Aiken this season, coming Oct. 22. The next step is the NCAA Southeast Regional, this year hosted by Queens University in Charlotte, N.C.
The Bobcats return All-PBC runners on both sides, as senior Daniel Horseman (Cohutta, Ga.) and sophomore Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.) return to lead their respective teams. The Bobcat men took fourth in the PBC a year ago, while the women were sixth.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
