MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Annual Sodexo Bobcat Classic Golf Tournament, one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for Georgia College & State University athletics, has been set for Monday, Sept. 13 at Harbor Club on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.
As always, there will be tee times offered for the morning and afternoon. While the chance to hit the links at Harbor Club is often incentive enough to sign up for the annual tournament, the door prizes at the Bobcat Classic are often second to none.
“It’s a great day of fun and fellowship on one of the finest golf courses anywhere,” said Athletic Director Wendell Staton. “Proceeds directly benefit the highest academic achievers within the athletic department. We look forward to another outstanding tournament this year as we have had great prior success due to loyal support and volunteers.”
The cost is $700 for a foursome, with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Bobcat athletics had another banner year in 2009-10, bringing home its second-straight Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Commissioner's Cup, the all-sports trophy for the conference. Georgia College baseball and golf brought home their PBC Championships, as these and six of the other programs at Georgia College competed in the NCAA post-season last year. The Bobcat baseball team also had a dream run in the post season, advancing to the College World Series semifinals. One of the best examples of a balance between academics and athletics in all of Division II, the Bobcats also saw 93 of their student-athletes named to the PBC Presidential Honor Roll teams in 2009-10.
